COMMUNITY BUILDING UPGRADES

Alterations and upgrades to a Victorian former School have been approved by Dartmoor National Park. An established community group have gained permission to upgrade an old building within a Conservation Area in the Dartmoor National Park. Comprehensive upgrades to the building were needed to ensure the long-term use remains viable. JWP were part of the design team helping to design a modern addition to an historic building. The design team worked collaboratively to devise a scheme that extends the building and introduces new technology. The scheme seeks to reduce running costs, provide renewable energy sources, improve the space available for the community and present a well considered modern design in an historic context. Following pre-application discussions permission was granted by delegated powers. This was a complex scheme with many issues to consider and distill into a well presented proposal.
