New home in the AONB outside established development boundary

Planning permission has recently been granted for a new dwelling within the South Devon AONB and outside of the established development boundary. The proposal was for the replacement of an existing industrial unit that has long been the source of problems due to its’ inappropriate position next to housing. Working collaboratively with a local Architect on the scheme through the pre-application and application stages planning permission was granted by the planning committee without the need to go to appeal. This scheme used the National Planning Policy Framework to justify the proposal and involved creative ways to find a pragmatic solution for the site. The house will be built for a local couple looking to self-build and home their family.
