This site is located in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a very highly protected landscape of national significance. The site had a small redundant stable on it and our proposal was to remove this and replace it with a similarly sized holiday cottage. We demonstrated that there is a demand for this type of accommodation and that the design was compatible with the character of the area. The application was refused on the grounds that it was harmful to the landscape, in a remote location and would be harmful to trees. We submitted an appeal against the refusal and won the case. We were able to demonstrate this was a much need facility that was sensitively designed and took account of trees on site.
